Today I have an extra video for you guys, on a topic that I feel like isn’t talked about enough. We always talk about having a healthy diet, but a healthy diet doesn’t help much if we are constantly worried and stressed about what we eat or what we should eat.
So many studies have confirmed, that our brain is connected to our body. So the state of your mind (like stress) influences the state of your body (like illness). So it is just as important to have a healthy eating mindset as it is to have a healthy diet.
So here are my 3 tips on having a healthy eating mindset:
- A diet is something super personal, so don’t feel pressured to adhere to someone else’s diet or follow a certain rule. What works for them doesn’t necessarily work for you. So take the information you get online as inspiration and tailor it to your specific needs.
- Don’t over-stress! If we had something that isn’t considered “healthy”, it’s totally fine, don’t over-stress about it. What’s in the past can’t be changed, so don’t over-stress and make it even unhealthier for you.
- It’s all about balance. What is most important is to maintain a healthy diet, most of the time. Indulging once in a while is totally fine. Just don’t overdo it. I call it the 80/20 rule. Concentrate on being healthy 80% (or most) of the time and allow small indulgences. Just don’t turn the indulgences into rewards or punishments. That can be damaging towards the relationship with food. Having those little indulgences might be even considered good for the soul.
